Theme
The Creator's Mark Art Prize and Exhibition is proud to offer Illawarra artists the opportunity to explore and interpret the 2024 theme: "Rhythms of Grace". We invite original submissions in paint, graphite, and mixed media (on canvas, paper, and sculpture), that explore and celebrate this year’s theme.
This years theme "Rhythms of Grace" was inspired by The Message Translation of the words of Jesus, in Matthew 11: 28-30:
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion?
Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life.
I’ll show you how to take a real rest.
Walk with me and work with me, watch how I do it.
Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.
I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.
Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
With the natural beauty and wonder of the Illawarra as your jumping off point “Rhythms of Grace” invites you to explore
in your own unique way this divine invitation:-
Back to our true selves and purpose
Back to our Creator
Back to things eternal and lasting, things not at the mercy of bank balances and time tables and to do lists
Back to beauty and wonder and imagination
Back to the "peace of simple things", to true rest, renewal and rediscovery
Back to a pace and a rhythm that truly nurtures and sustains us
Kay Douglass, Artist and member of the Creators Mark Team and C3 Haven Community Church shares this:
We believe in Jesus, the original creative…the ultimate inspiration. As we connect with Him we tap into a creative flow that is pure and beautiful. Relationship with Jesus brings peace and helps us make sense of this incredible and often messy life. There is rest available for your soul.
Rhythms of Grace is the flow of love and mercy that is available for us all. There’s peace for now and hope for the future. There is a connection with creation that takes on all new depths when you know the Creator.
We challenge you to engage with Jesus. Even just to invite Him to a conversation regarding your creativity and the piece you are contemplating for this exhibition.
If He is not real, you have lost nothing but just imagine how life changing it could be to connect with your creator, the living God.
We promise you He is alive and deeply interested in you and your life.
We welcome your unique interpretation of these ideas in your exploration of the theme “Rhythms of Grace”.
